This stunning 1950s Art Deco Coblentz Original style handbag is a true testament to Louis Coblentz's legacy as one of the most innovative handbag designers of his time. After moving from Paris to New York, flying in the face of the depression, Coblenz founded his handbag factory on 33rd Street in NYC in 1935. His designs quickly gained recognition, appearing in Vogue magazine in 1938 and being showcased at the 1947 Fashion Fair at Madison Square Garden. This black patent leather structured handbag features an original tortoiseshell Lucite closure, a signature detail that adds sophistication and vintage charm. The bag is framed with gold hardware and includes a detachable shoulder strap for added versatility. This exquisite, vintage find is named "Mechanical Lovers", after an unreleased song by the band OURS. It has been artistically adorned with (mechanical) butterflies, which pay homage to reoccurring themes in other OURS songs. This one-of-a-kind bag is a wearable conversation piece for any die-hard OURS fan or vintage aficionado.
